A Promise Kept: Heather's Diamond from Dance's Sporting Goods

Back in 2010, the housing market was still working its way back from the crash. Honestly, so was my bank account. I learned a lot of lessons during that time, reinvented my career and worked my way back. It wasn't quick, and it wasn't easy.

It was also during that time that I met Heather. When we got engaged, all I could afford was a small emerald and a promise to replace it one day with a proper diamond.

That Day Finally Came

Well, that day has finally come, and here she is showing off her new ring. But wait, you might say, that doesn't look like a jewelry store.

You're right. This picture was taken at Dance's Sporting Goods in Colonial Heights. The store is owned by a dear old friend of mine, Marlon Dance, and his family. Inside the store is Atlantic Pawn, and yep, that's where I bought her diamond.

Don't worry. Heather is one of the most frugal people I know, so she didn't mind one bit. And we got a great deal!

About Atlantic Pawn

Atlantic Pawn is a licensed pawnbroker that shares space with Dance's at 570 Southpark Boulevard. It's a great place to look for something a little different:

  • Jewelry: rings, diamonds and estate pieces (that's where I found Heather's)

  • Coins and precious metals

  • Musical instruments, especially guitars

So if you need a gift for your sweetie, head down to Atlantic Pawn and find something sparkly. While you're there, don't forget to check out the rest of Dance's.
