A Local Favorite: What-A-Burger in Colonial Heights
I've been searching for what is, in my opinion, the best burger around Richmond: one cooked on a flat-top grill like the ones I used to get growing up. There is just something about a hot, juicy hamburger fresh off the grill with melted cheese.
I am a purist and have never fancied anything else on my burger, but I don't fault those who do: ketchup, mayo, onions, lettuce, mustard and so many combinations of these. I'm talking about just the burger part that gets my mouth watering. I'm OK with Five Guys, but it never completely scratched that itch.
A Lucky Find in Colonial Heights
On my way to show a property in Colonial Heights, I just happened upon a What-A-Burger. There used to be more restaurants with the name around Central Virginia, but these days they are few and far between.

Finding this place was a little like stepping back in time for me: mouthwatering deliciousness that took me back to hot summer afternoon lunches and a break from work. I'll be back to make sure I wasn't dreaming about how good it was.

What's your favorite place to get a burger? And what do you like on it?
