A Richmond Local Favorite: Blue Habanero in the Fan
Updated: Oct 8
When I was growing up, there was only one Mexican restaurant in all of Richmond: a little hole in the wall in Northside, just off I-95, that had great food.
Fast forward to today, and it seems there is a Mexican restaurant on just about every corner. Some are pretty good and some are not so great. Heather and I are always in search of the Mexican restaurant that knocks it out of the park in service, food and drinks, and our favorite is Blue Habanero in the Fan.
In the Old Strawberry Street Café Space
Blue Habanero replaced the Strawberry Street Café and is located at 421 Strawberry Street. We stopped in for the first time about two years ago, and it has been on our radar ever since for the next time we were downtown at dinnertime.

What We Ordered
After doing a walk-through in Rocketts Landing, we made our way over for dinner. I ordered the Short Rib Tacos and Heather ordered the Chicken Tinga Tacos.

Dinner came quickly and was really very yummy. Both plates of tacos were beautifully presented, both were oh so tasty, and we had leftovers to bring home.
Our Take
If you are ever near downtown Richmond and want a new lunch or dinner spot to try, we highly recommend Blue Habanero. We think you won't be disappointed.
